Our love is not a fading earthly flower:
Its wingèd seed dropped down from Paradise,
And, nursed by day and night, by sun and shower,
Doth momently to fresher beauty rise.
To us the leafless autumn is not bare,
Nor winter's rattling boughs lack lusty green:
Our summer hearts make summer's fulness where
No leaf or bud or blossom may be seen:
For nature's life in love's deep life doth lie,
Love,--whose forgetfulness is beauty's death,
Whose mystic key these cells of Thou and I
Into the infinite freedom openeth,
And makes the body's dark and narrow grate
The wide-flung leaves of Heaven's palace-gate.

Monday evening saw a very special event take place in Tanglewood. Miss Lapin Paris, a personal friend, member of the Caledon Light Horse and shining star in the firmament of Caledon, was inducted into the highest level of Caledonian society, made a Dame by our beloved Viceriene herself.Miss Paris has worked tirelessly and ceaselessly for SLRFL these past few months, and ensured that Team Caledon has made one of the larger contributions to the overall total. Without her we would have no raves, no Dark Victorians, my dear friend Viderian would maybe not have felt
inspired to do 17 laps of the SLRFL relay track, none of us would feel as we do about Tanglewood, or the community of wider Caledon. She is the bedrock of us all, ever ready to help organise, encourage, commiserate. So it was with great pride that the Guvnah's Own Dragoons turned out to give our sister a Guard of Honour at her Knighting. We assembled in Scaggs-Despres Grove, and had a good turnout considering the time. A deep and personal thank you from me to all of you, my fine troopers!
We mounted up, dressed in our full ceremonials, each carrying a standard, and then processed to the site of the ceremony. A fine body of horseflesh and muscle we all are! We formed up as best we could - it was a very popular occassion, rampant with lag - and Hooooed! our Lady to the high heavens as she arose Dame Lapin of Tanglewood. A Knight of Caledon, Lapin is truly deserving of this title, and I am so glad she has a real one, given by Caledon herself, and not just a Court title. For better and more full coverage of the ceremony itself, I refer you to these excellent accounts. Firstly, by Caledon's own "embedded" reporter from SLNN, Miss Eladrienne Laval. And Dame Lapin's own account, here.
On Sunday the newest sim in Caledon was opened, Caledon Regency, which abuts the east coast of Caledon Eyre. This sim has been eagerly awaited, and is no disappointment.
Like Eyre, this sim has been been created by Admiral Carrice Wind, and the period theme and rugged countryside carry across perfectly. I personally find it to look a bit too organised, the drainage ditches and such give it more of a housing estate feel, but then I live in England, where tenements of Regency buildings have been allowed to become estate-like in their look and their feel. The buildings Admiral Wind has built are in themselves superb, excellent facsimiles of brownstones, and my personal opinion on the layout should take nothing away from all her amazing work.
I am a creature of Tanglewood, of the wilder areas, so was drawn to the mountains which march along the new sims southern edge, an extension of the range which begins on Eyre. They are stunning, wild, romantic, awe-inspiring places. One can almost see Heathcliffe and Kathy in the distance.
Here are a few views of Regency from its peaks. A good view of Tanglewood can be had from a well placed cut in the range, and soon this will look out over Stormhold. There is a path running the length of the range, and whether you walk it for your constitution, the views or for inspiration, I urge you to walk it.
Well done and thank you, Admiral, for giving us another place of beauty.VIVAT CALEDON!
My love and I took a great class yesterday, in how to build an Elven Merry Go Round!Delivered by Miss Vanilla Jessop, at Mystical Mastery, a learning sim where everything has an elven theme, this class was a lot of fun, and with the build being a Level 3, some good tips were learnt, as well as getting a boatload of free textures!
I opted for a garishly coloured theme to my Elven Go Round, whereas Kacy created a more considered look, the colours fitting together perfectly to create a very elegant piece. I am always amazed and impressed by her talent at design and building, she is so good at sorting out my texture disasters! The build used parts of the Edit menu I have not used that often, particularly Skew and Revolutions in the making of the spirals. These were highly effective, and I shall certainly be experimenting with them on future builds of my own.We added poseballs and rotation to the Elven Go Round, and I for one learned more about the
sequence for linking various items with scripts in. Miss Jessop delivered the class at a very good tempo, relaxed without being pedestrian, allowing plenty of time for the slower students (such as me) to catch up with those more able to build quickly.
The finished piece is a lot of fun, and hopefully my beloved's version will find itself a place on our Tanglewood plot. If you want a great way to spend an hour in SL, look out for this class. Or indeed any class!
