Save the Date!

Ras Day Celebrations

Yesterday was the occasion of Duke Regent Of Kintyre His Grace Erasmus Margolis's Rez Day. We were very happy to attend such a joyous event.

The celebration of Ras's first year upon the Grid began with a Roast, organised by his lady Countess Autopilotpatty Poppy. If you like me you initially had visions of boar or oxen turning on spits, they were quickly dispelled! This Roast was a gentle and affectionate walk along memory lane for Ras, touching on the light hearted, humorous or embarrassing moments he has had. And there were quite a few of them! All evidence of a larger than life figure leading a larger than life SL.

Then, seated on his duchal throne, Ras was treated to a performance by the Second Life Pipe and Drum Band, who played every number (apart from Mull of Kintyre, for which a wax cylinder recording was played, Sir Paul McCartney having sent his humble apologies at being otherwise engaged) live, and very good they were too!

There followed a parade - albeit it static due to lag - of the Clan Kintyre before their Laird, and the dancing was then officially opened. Jigs to start, then Radio Riel provided much musical goodness from the (19)80s.

His Grace Kintyre stripped to the waist, as is his custom, and the rest of us gentlemen followed suit. A well-known kilt wearer, Ras later donned a kilt in the Kintyre Tartan, created by Mr 1wuz Gray, in muted tones of green and grey.

The whole event was punctuated by much laughter and merriment, no small measure being provided by Lady Diamunda Gustafson, who kept bursting into flames! Well, it was a hot party on a hot night!

My beloved Kacy and I had a wonderful time, and our heartfelt thanks and best wishes for the future go out to Ras, Patty, Lavendar and the rest of Clan Kintyre for a very happy year to come. It'll h
ave to be some Rez Day party next year to beat this one!

An Enchanted Time Together

My beloved and I took another look round the romantic locations on the Grid the other day. Kacy ran a Search, and we headed off to the Enchanted Forest, on the Joy Isle sim.

What a true delight! So many places for a couple to be close! We settled for a pontoon of sorts, with a bench at the one end and a pile of cushions at the other, both menu-driven with a good selection of cuddle options.

With the Sun forced to sunset, the light streaming through the trees was more obvious, and a lovely effect it was too. The audio stream was also very conducive to romance, helping to set the atmosphere perfectly.

If you and your partner are looking for somewhere to spend some quality time together, you could do a lot worse than visiting the Enchanted Forest. You may find all the choice spots taken by us though!

Perfect Moment

Living somewhere like Caledon, with all its parties and personalities, it is easy to forget that the Grid is a very big place indeed. So yesterday my beloved took me off to explore, and am I happy she did!

We found this spot, overlooking a bay, where dolphins and a whale sported in the surf, an island just offshore, and the most perfect sunset.

Sat there with the sound of the surf, the scent of irises carried gently on the cooling air, birds and insects making their lazy noises and hardly
another soul around, my heart was at ease, gently wrapped around Kacy's as my arm softly wrapped around her shoulder, her warm presence more reassuring and solid than the rock upon which we sat.

Time passed, as it is wont to do, but it could have been minutes or days. One of those perfect moments that the Grid can give us, and that I am blessed to have so many of in my SL with Kacy.

The Most Precious Gift Of All

The other Rez Day gift my love gave to me was this picture, created by her in PS. Inspired by the work of Captain Jak, Kacy has taken some of our favourite images, and combined them with lyrics from two songs that describe us perfectly.

The top lines come from "The Promise" by Tracey Chapman, the lower half from the song listed below.
This gift choked with me with tears of joy when I saw it for the first time, and makes me feel deep emotions now. No words can ever really describe what Kacy means to me, what she has done for me with her love, her patient care and tenderness.

This image is the one that sums up the very best things of my first year, though much happened in the months before she came like an angel into my life, all of it was mere preparation for the business of really living this Second Life I share with her.

The most precious gift of all is her love for me, expressed as it is in so many ways, and all I can say in return is I love you, Kacy Despres, with a love that shines through both my lives and crosses the oceans to bring me close to you. You are my beginning and my end, making sense of the mystery that surrounds us all.

Tempus Fugit

So this old tom made it through a year! A bit battered at times, and hopefully a bit wiser, though it may be another twelvemonth before that becomes evident!

My beloved suggested we have a little soiree to mark the passing of my Rez Day, which I had only noticed was coming up the day before! We have been very busy with FL stuff, so have not been as connected to events in Caledon as perhaps we would have liked, and this blog has suffered as a result as well. Things are settling a bit, so I return to our journal now, as a new year begins for me pon the Grid.

Earlier in the day, as we relaxed upon our new patio, Kacy had surprised me with two incredible gifts, wrapped beautifully as in the first picture, one of them being the Lapointe Gift Card you see clutched tight in my sweaty paw. Kitty's getting style at last! I bought two new outfits, to wear at my Rez Bash, one elegantly gothic, the other decidely more badass, the two sides of me perfectly catered for. Wearing fur has certainly allowed me to expand my sartorial horizons, something that was never easy with a red skin!

We held the party on our new lawn/ building platform. My love had made some great signs for the occasion, appropriately enough hammered onto riveted copper sheet, and I added what I like to call the "Four Ages of Mord", posters depicting my av's evolution through the past year. That hair! Those skins! Mord Mk4 is definitely higher up the fashion food chain now than he was as Mk1!

I was delighted to have all my friends attend, no more so than by my dearest friend of all, Viderian Duke Vollmar of Cymru, who arrived to help get proceedings started, and who did me the highest honour of wearing his true form, in a very impressive updated format. Well a Duke has to look the part, eh? When it comes to top av's, no one outdoes the pony! Well, Kacy does, but that is a whole different ball game altogether!

More guests arrived, my sister Cheyenne and her Sweetie, our dear friends Leon and Glori, Raz (Duke Regent of Kintyre) with his lady Patty (a fine sight to see that was), Genie, Martini, and two new friends Honey42 and Trun. This was an especially nice thing to happen, to meet people for the first time on my Rez Day.

Later Lavendar arrived - Her Grace Duchess Beaumont of Kintyre - with her beau Sir Zen Wormser. This last arrival was perhaps the biggest surprise of all, I think it is common knowledge that he and I have not been on the best of terms recently, but a New Year in any life is an opportunity for change, for renewal and growth, and I was glad to see him attending his love, and joining in the dancing. Perhaps a new friend in waiting?

We danced for what seemed like hours, the conversation flowing easily and with many lateral jumps, and as with all parties in Caledon things soon headed for the adult end of the spectrum! I think the ladies timed Raz The Abs Margolis as taking only 10 minutes to get his pecs out, and soon everyone was dressing down. Genie wore a particularly fine Neko, and Dar and Chey obliged us all by dressing to raise the temperature! Hottest of all was my darling wife-to-be, and there was no prouder man than I there, to be dancing with such a vision of feminine beauty.

Arriving toward the end, as her FL allowed, Her Ladyship Keashi Viscountess of Cymru, arrived, and to protect her young ears the conversation returned to more savoury topics. This little unicorn look the very essence of cute as she danced with her very proud and adoring father, wearing a dress of lustrous gold.

I have to give special mention to Sweetie, who charmed and delighted us all with her poofers, her light show and her box of tricks. Every party should have a manic sprite in attendance!

To all who came, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your gifts but most of all the gift of your presences, and another big thank you to my dear friends who couldn't make the event but sent messages of congratulation. We shall be holding more parties in future, and we hope to see you all there soon.
